Bhairab Kunda means a holy lake in Sanskrit, named after the destructive name of Lord Shiva. "Bhairav Kund" is located to the northeast of Kathmandu, next right to Panch Pokhari, and close to the Nepal - Tibet border.
Our guide will give a short lesson on trekking (including details on altitude sickness) on the first night. He will also explain about all the beautiful spots from where you can see an excellent view of the mountains. After breakfast (taken at a restaurant near the office), we leave by bus out of the Valley and up through the hills. After 5 hours we’ll arrive at the trek starting point, Jalbire, a traditional small town full of "Newari" culture,e and the first night of our outdoor adventure will be spent close to the town.
During the rest of our 10-day trip, we’ll observe different ways of life and interact with people living in small villages, passing through areas of dense forest and meadows. The top of Bhairab Kund offers an excellent view of the Rolwaling Range, Jugal Himal, and some of the Tibetan mountains. On the last day of the trip,, we ride by bus from Larcha back to Kathmandu, or you can choose to combine a rafting tour or bungee jump with this trek.
